Dr. Marla Rosenberg’ responds to some of the most frequent questions about hair loss and hair transplant surgery, if you have a question not listed please visit our contact area and submit your personal question.

Does the surgery work?
Our modern surgical techniques, graft preparation and insertion methods ensure a successful outcome.
It is always successful and always looks natural. It is also safe, there has never been any serious medical complication.
Does hair transplant surgery hurt?
All areas are anesthetized using local anesthetic. Our anesthetic solutions have a buffered PH which minimizes stinging. All anesthetic injections are administered using techniques that reduce discomfort. The majority of patients are surprised how easy and painless the procedure is.
Prior to any injections, patients are given some oral medications to relax them. Once initial anesthesia is achieved, additional injections are administered into previously anesthetized areas to maintain your comfort level.
After the surgery, pain medications and sleeping pills are provided. These are used as needed.
Is the procedure safe?
Yes it is a safe skin procedure when performed in Dr. Marla Rosenberg’s office. A patient’s health and safety is of utmost importance, we review your medical history and current medical status before a decision to go ahead with surgery is made. Dr. Marla Rosenberg has never had a major complication arising from any procedure she has performed
.
Will anyone notice that I have had surgery?
The recipient area will heal within a few days. The donor area is virtually undetectable and completely camouflaged by one’s own hair at the time of surgery. If one has some thinning hair, in the zone of the transplant, then it can be used to camouflage right away.
A clean hat can be worn as well, the day after the surgery
Who is not a good candidate?
In some cases, certain medical conditions cause hair loss. It is important that any medical process that may be responsible for hair loss is diagnosed and treated before hair restoration can be considered. Some of these conditions may even be temporary. This is something that is determined at the time of consultation.
Another case would be a candidate that did not have enough donor hair to make the surgery worthwhile. This is very unusual and is something that would be assessed during a consultation. In most instances, significant cosmetic gains can be achieved even with narrow donor rims.

In woman, Minoxidil as well as some hormonal treatments may be options. Neither of these are permanent solutions, nor do the effects last longer than five years. They may, however, play a role in appropriate patients. This will be discussed during the consultation process. There are also medical conditions, which if treated, may result in hair growth, (e.g. hypothyroidism, several hormonal disorders and dietary factors).

Can Travel right after the surgery?
Patients return the day after the procedure for a check and to have their hair washed. Post-operative instructions are carefully reviewed at this time. You can certainly travel after that. Out of town patients are advised to arrive in Toronto on the night before their sessions as we start early. They should plan on spending the night before and at least one night after surgery in Toronto.
